When I was ten, I spent weeks worrying about a school concert. I was terrified I would play badly and that my classmates will laugh at me. I told my dad about my fear, he said, I should think of it as an opportunity to be brave. Courage doesn't mean not being afraid, it means doing what you need to do even when you feel afraid, fear doesn't have to paralyze you.

Fear of failure is part of life. People worry about tests at school, and presentations at work (???), others are afraid to start a business or to speak English to a foreigner.

But should you fear mistakes? No, failure can move you toward success. It can teach you what you need to do to improve. You gain skills by trying risky things. Even if they don't work out. When I was learning Chinese, mistakes sometimes helped me . when friend corrected my mistakes. It's actually helped me remember the right word.

At the post office
C:I would like to send this package to U.S.
c:Do you want to send it by sea or air?
C: How long will it take by sea?
c:About 2 to 3 months?
C:Oh! I'll send it by air then.

Mary: Hey, Mike, what's wrong with Nick? He seems to be depressed.
Mike: Yeah, his girl friend wants to break up with him.
Mary: What happened?
Mike: He's girl friend went  abroad to study as soon as she got there, she sent him a dear John letter.


At the laundromat
Roger: So, How do I wash clothes here?
Kelly: It's easy. Make sure the  pockets of all you dirty clothes are empty  first.
Roger: OK. Then what?
Kelly: Put the money into the machine, then add some detergent.
Roger: Now I put the clothes in ,right?
Kelly: That's right, then all you do is press start.

Mom, look at my clothes!
They're all white! What did you do?
I just add some of this stuff  here.
You can't add that! That's bleach!
Oops! I thought it was detergent.

Do you like change?

Change can be hard, especially, when you have a rest time, but you can also be exciting. (我沒有聽懂…)

But it can also be exciting.

When we change, it can help us to make new friends, it can also help us become better people. 

If you could make a big change in your life, what would it be? If you could have a small change in your life, what would it be?What is something you never went (want) to change?

When I was in college, my goal was to become an artist. I  wanted to go to a very famous art school after college, but I was never accepted to the school. This made me very sad. 

However, I heard about a new opportunity to work in Asia. I liked the idea, so I took it. Now I live in Taipei, and I earn (love) my life here.  Yes, I had a dream to be an artist. The dream didn't come true, but I learned the dream can change, so sometimes that's a good thing.
